UP’s annual, week-long “Easter Lives Here” slate of inspirational movies got off to a strong start on Palm Sunday, March 20, when more than two million viewers* tuned in to The Passion of the Christ, the three-time Oscar®-nominated and People’s Choice Award-winning film from Academy® Award-winning director Mel Gibson (Braveheart, The Patriot). The Passion of the Christ aired with limited commercial interruption for the third straight year, and will be shown again onFriday, March 25 at 11 p.m. EDT and Saturday, March 26 at 9 p.m. EDT.
UP is the family destination for great Easter entertainment as it continues its annual “Easter Lives Here” slate of inspirational and contemporary movies all weekend including The Ten Commandments on Saturday, March 26 at 12:30 p.m. EDT, The Greatest Story Ever Told on Saturday, March 26 at 4:30 p.m. EDT, andFireproof on Sunday, March 27 at 2 p.m. EDT, followed by Courageous at 4:30 p.m. EDT. The network’s Easter event culminates on Easter Sunday, March 27, with the cable television premiere of the hit musical drama Grace Unplugged starring AJ Michalka (“The Goldbergs,” “Oliver Beene”) at 7 and 9 p.m. EDT.
The Passion of the Christ offers audiences breathtaking cinematography and the seamless performance of Jim Caviezel (The Prisoner, “Person of Interest”) in an uncompromising look at Jesus Christ’s profound courage and sacrifice. The Passion of The Christ dramatically captures the last 12 hours of Christ’s life, based on the gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. The film also stars Monica Bellucci (The Matrix Reloaded, Spectre) as Mary Magdalene.
